The BAREFOOT Roadmap: From Imbalance to Balance

How it all began ...

I began working in the health field when I was just 16, first as a Carer in a Care Home before undertaking my nurse training and career as a registered nurse specialising in Critical Care.  My passion for understanding the deeper nuances of health led me to gain qualifications in Medical Ethics and Law, Nursing, Critical Care, Nutrition, Integrative Health and Spiritual Counselling. 

As an ardent supporter of evidence-based practice, my journey led me to discover wisdom embedded in ancient medicine, recognising that traditional nursing and medical training often bypass the subtle energetic aspects of DIS-EASE.

This exploration opened my eyes to the limitations of Western health management, which tends to address the symptoms rather than the root causes of illnesses. By integrating the insights of ancient healing practices and embracing a more natural approach to wellness, I began to appreciate the necessity of addressing not just the physical body, but also the significant impact of our soul's journey, purpose and mental state in the holistic management of illness.

Despite my professional focus on helping others, I often overlooked my own health warnings. It took a series of personal health challenges – from recurrent UTIs and cancer scares to adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalances – to truly open my eyes.  A reaction to fluoroquinolone antibiotics was the catalyst for my profound shift towards natural healing.  This path wasn’t just a choice it had become a necessity, a journey where I left no stone unturned in my quest for healing.

In 2017, a significant chapter of my life began when I moved next door to Bo at very difficult time. Bo, a talented Graphic Designer, Reiki Master, Herbalist and Spiritual Counsellor, was also on her own spiritual journey.  She offered me Reiki, and my path to healing was transformed.  Our personal and professional relationship blossomed as we supported each other through our respective paths of healing and growth.  It became clear that our combined experiences and skills were a powerful force.

Together we realised that health and well-being isn’t single-focused.  Our complementary skills and insights formed a holistic approach, encompassing everything from energy healing to practical wellness strategies.  Thus, The Barefoot Healers was born – a wellness collective that is the embodiment of our shared vision, skills, experience and personal journeys.

The Barefoot Healers is not just a collective, it's aims to be a sanctuary for those seeking to navigate their health and wellness paths.

Over time, our BAREFOOT method has evolved into a healing approach that addresses every aspect of health. This method is built on the principle of holistic care, ensuring a balanced integration of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. A focus is on importance of self-awareness in the healing process, adopting the ethos of ‘know thyself to heal thyself’.

Body Consciousness is about tuning into the body's innate wisdom. Understanding how your body communicates through symptoms and responses is crucial. The power of nature in healing is profound. “Alternative” Healing Remedies encompass a wide range of natural solutions - from herbs and supplements to energy practices like Reiki, sound and crystal healing. These ancient methods, adapted for modern living, support the body's natural healing processes, addressing both physical ailments and emotional imbalances. We draw wisdom from various practices of medicine to help move from dis-ease to ease.  We say “Alternative”, but one day soon we hope to see them described as THE option, not an alternative, like they once were. Alternative remedies can compliment or work with conventional medicine.

In our fast-paced world that is filled with noise, Rest and Relaxation are often overlooked but are vital for health.
