A Journey of Peace at the Dead Sea

In the waning days of winter 2023, we embarked on our first journey to Jordan, a land of ancient beauty and profound mystique. After sightseeing in the capital Amman, and visiting the vast Roman ruins in Jerash, our travels led us to the shores of the Dead Sea. A magical resting place, where the warm winds whispered tales of ages past and the silence echoed with the heartbeat of the Earth.

Nestled at the lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea is a natural wonder of immense historical and geological significance. At approximately 430 metres below sea level, this extraordinary, fast-shrinking body of water is renowned for its exceptionally high salinity, nearly ten times that of ocean water, and its remarkable density, which enables effortless buoyancy.

Without much thought we gently lowered ourselves into the briny embrace of the Dead Sea, feeling the weight of the world lift from our shoulders as we surrendered to its buoyant embrace. Suspended between the heavens and the Earth, we released our quartz crystals into the depths, each one imbued with our heartfelt aspirations for harmony and compassion.

As the crystals disappeared beneath the transparent waters, I offered a silent prayer for the well-being of all living beings. Hopefully the whispers travelled on the wind, carrying my intentions outwards, touching hearts and minds across Mother Earth.

The landscape was a tapestry of contrasts, with the golden hills stretching out beneath the azure skies and meeting the salt-encrusted shores and the calm blue waters of the sea. That evening the full moon cast its ethereal glow upon the saline expanse, as if bestowing a celestial blessing on our pilgrimage.

Amidst the shimmering reflections of moonlight upon the tranquil surface, we discovered a profound sense of unity and calm with the cosmos. The stars above seemed to dance in a divine choreography, as if to affirm our peaceful intentions.

The Dead Sea, with its timeless allure and healing powers, served as a poignant reminder of our interconnectedness with all things.
